Presentations, Seminars, Author Visits

Books and videos are wonderful ways to communicate, but nothing beats a live presentation for it's ability to connect, inspire, and overcome the symptoms of Nature Deficit Disorder. In a presentation, we can "meet students/audiences where they are" to enhance learning and facilitate hands-on engagement. We have a number of programs to offer and will come to your location.

Ron is a highly accomplished public speaker and has a gift for teaching and entertaining at the same time. We charge a reasonable speaking fee that varies with group size and type. Our schedule is often tight, so please book in advance. See below and contact Ron with questions or to schedule presentation ([email protected]).

The LIVING WILD Outdoor Crash Course is a FUN, multi-media presentation designed to get kids deeply engaged with nature by teaching them nature study and outdoor skills that foster self-reliance, reading, writing, and improved wellbeing. It can be done indoors or outdoors and requires 60 minutes. Age range is 8-14. Topics include:
  >  Wilderness survival (shelter, water, fire, food)
  >  Bushcraft
  >  Animal ID and Ecology
  >  Wild Foods (Field to Table)
  >  Wildlife conservation
  >  Native American Culture

During Author Visits, Ron reads from his books, provides live demonstrations with props, and engages students in discussion about nature, outdoor skills, history, reading, and writing. Author visits can rotate throughout classrooms, extending through much of the school day.

Quick Fact:  In one study, twice as many students who had an author visit read above the expected level for their age compared with their peers who didn’t have such a visit.
